My Education |
|
Col. Bengt Ljungquist, international competitor and judge from Sweden and coach for the U.S. Bronze medal team in 1976 was my mentor for eight years until his untimely death in the late 70's. I credit him with giving me a solid basis in classical dressage which has been with me since that time. I trained with Ernst Bachinger of the Spanish Riding School, having made several trips to Austria with the added privilege of watching many performances of that great institution. From 1978-1982 I had the privilege of working with Wilfried Schmidt of Germany, who coached me during many critical competitions such as Aachen and Amsterdam. His wisdom and teaching led me to stand several times in the prize-giving ceremonies during that time. In 1983 it was truly an honor to work with the late George Theodorescu in the U.S. quest for gold in the Pan-Am Games. I once again had that experience in 1988 at the World Championships in Canada. Through the years I have attended many Trainers Seminars with renowned instructors from Europe. I welcome the opportunity to share my education and experience in any way that might be helpful to others.
